Welcome to Piano with Norbert

Piano tuition across Harrow, Pinner, Stanmore, Northwood, Wealdstone, Hatch End and Kenton (HA1 to HA8).

Norbert Steczkowski, conservatoire-trained piano teacher, at the piano in his Harrow studio (HA2)

Piano with Norbert was founded by Norbert Steczkowski, a Trinity Laban graduate who has performed at the Royal Albert Hall with the Trinity Jazz Band. Every teacher on the team is conservatoire-trained, still performing across London, and DBS-checked, chosen for the one thing that keeps students coming back: the patience to explain music properly.

Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced player wanting to push further, every lesson is built around you: your goals, your pace, your taste. Over 90 per cent of our students pass ABRSM and Trinity exams with merit or distinction, built on strong technique and real musical confidence.

Lessons run weekly in 30, 45 or 60-minute slots, with no long contract. The simplest way to begin is a £10 trial: thirty minutes at the piano, an honest read of where you (or your child) are, and a plan for what comes next. Fully refundable if it isn't useful.

Frequently asked

The questions parents and adult learners ask

How much is the trial lesson and how long does it last?

+
£10 for 30 minutes at the piano with a conservatoire-trained teacher. You pay online, the booking is confirmed instantly, and you leave with a clear plan for the first few weeks. There is no commitment to continue afterwards.

What ages do you teach?

+
From four years old upwards. Most of our students are aged 5 to 16. About a third of the people we teach are adults: total beginners and Grade 3 to 5 returners. Same teachers, same price, different curriculum to fit the learner.

Do you teach at your studio, in our home, or online?

+
All three. The studio is at 65 Dorchester Avenue, Harrow HA2 7AX, with a Yamaha grand. For in-home lessons we travel across HA1 to HA8 (Harrow, Pinner, Stanmore, Northwood, Wealdstone, Hatch End, Kenton, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ruislip, Edgware) for a small location-based fee. Online lessons work from anywhere in the UK.

Do you prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity and RSL exams?

+
Yes, all three. ABRSM and Trinity for the classical and theory syllabi, RSL for rock and pop. Over 90 per cent of the students we enter pass with merit or distinction. We only book the exam when a student is ready, which is most of why the pass rate looks the way it does.

What if my child does not have a piano at home yet?

+
A weighted-key 88-key digital piano (around £400 new) is enough for the first three years. Roland, Yamaha and Kawai all make good ones. The trial itself happens at our studio, so you do not need an instrument at home to book. Our free 5 Things to Know Before Starting Piano guide explains the buying decision in more detail.

How quickly will I see real progress?

+
Most beginners play their first real piece within two or three lessons. By the end of a first year of weekly tuition, many sit ABRSM, Trinity or RSL Grade 1. Steady attendance and short, structured practice (15 to 20 minutes a day for children) does almost all of the work.
