Our Method

Why our students succeed

Real progress comes from the right teacher, the right repertoire, and a sensible plan. Here is how we deliver all three.

Lessons built around the student

Every student is matched to the right teacher and the right pace. Norbert handles classical, jazz and ABRSM exam preparation. Declan covers blues, rock, pop and RSL syllabus. We listen first, plan second, and teach to the student rather than to a fixed curriculum.

Conservatoire-trained teachers

Norbert trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music with honours and still performs across London. Declan trained at BIMM London. Both are fully DBS-checked and chosen as much for warmth as for technical depth, because progress needs a teacher students genuinely look forward to seeing each week.

ABRSM, Trinity & RSL exam wins

Years of preparing students for ABRSM, Trinity and RSL grade exams across classical, jazz, rock and pop syllabuses. We enter students only when they are properly ready, so they tend to pass with merit or distinction rather than scraping through.

Students stay for years

Most piano students quit within six months because lessons feel like a chore. Ours don't. The repertoire is what students actually want to play, the pace feels achievable, and the teachers genuinely listen. That keeps Harrow families with us year after year.

Common Questions

What Harrow parents ask first

The questions we get most often before booking a trial. Honest answers, no marketing fluff.

At what age can my child start piano lessons in Harrow?

We have successfully taught children from age four upwards. Readiness varies more than age does. What matters most is whether your child can sit and focus for around 20 minutes and shows genuine curiosity around the instrument. We will happily advise after a £10 trial lesson at our HA2 studio.

How quickly will I see real progress?

Most beginner children play their first real piece within two or three lessons. By the end of a first year of weekly tuition and 10 to 15 minutes of daily practice, many students are ready to sit ABRSM, Trinity or RSL Grade 1. Adult learners often progress faster in early reading and slightly slower in physical coordination, with the two evening out around month three.

Do you prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity and RSL exams?

Yes, all three. ABRSM and Trinity for classical and theory, RSL for the rock and pop syllabus. We have guided students from Grade 1 through to Grade 8 across each board. We enter students for exams only when they are properly ready, so they tend to pass with merit or distinction rather than scraping through.

Do you offer in-home piano lessons across Harrow and surrounding areas?

Yes. We travel to homes across HA1 to HA8 (Harrow, Pinner, Stanmore, Northwood, Wealdstone, Hatch End, Kenton, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ruislip, Edgware) for a small location-based travel fee. Send your postcode when you enquire and we will confirm. Many families combine in-home lessons during term time with online lessons during school holidays.

How much do piano lessons cost in Harrow?

The £10 trial lesson is 30 minutes with no commitment. Regular 60-minute lessons are £45. Our 4-lesson pack is £160 (saving £20). The Premium Package at £220 includes four lessons plus custom revision videos and access to our online piano technique course. Full pricing is on our Lessons & Fees page.

Are your teachers qualified and DBS-checked?

Yes. Norbert Steczkowski trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music with honours and performs across London. Declan Rafton trained at BIMM London. Both teachers are fully DBS-checked and chosen as much for warmth as for technical credentials.

What if my child has tried piano lessons before and quit?

Most piano students quit within six months because lessons feel like a chore: pieces they did not choose, robotic teaching, no visible progress. We do it differently. We build the lessons around music your child actually wants to play, paced so progress feels real, with a teacher who genuinely listens. Many of our happiest students started with us after giving up elsewhere.
