Piano Lessons in Rayners Lane

Rayners Lane (HA5) · Conservatoire-trained piano teachers

Piano with Norbert provides private piano lessons across Rayners Lane and the surrounding HA5 area. We are based a short distance away in HA2, so home visits across Rayners Lane are practical and quick, and our studio is a comfortable journey by Piccadilly line or by car. We teach children from four years old, secondary school students working through ABRSM grades, and adults of every age and background. Lessons are relaxed, focused and built around the individual.

A close-to-home option for Rayners Lane

Rayners Lane sits at the junction of HA2 and HA5, well-connected to our teaching base. That makes lessons logistically easy: the studio is a short hop away, home visits across Rayners Lane and the streets that run towards Pinner and South Harrow are straightforward, and there is no need to factor in long travel times that eat into your child's evening or your adult learning week. For families on Whittington Road, Wentworth Drive, Eastcote Lane and the residential streets that branch off Alexandra Avenue, we are essentially a local teacher.

Levels and pacing

Most of our Rayners Lane students are working between Grade 1 and Grade 5. We also teach a steady stream of Grade 6 to 8 students, advanced post-Grade-8 players preparing diploma repertoire, and complete beginners (children and adults) who have never sat at a piano before. The pace is set by the student, not by a rigid curriculum. We will be honest about realistic timelines: roughly 12 to 18 months from first lesson to Grade 1 for a child practising consistently, and a longer arc for students aiming at scholarships or conservatoire entrance.

Trial lesson and how to start

Your first lesson is £10. It is a full-length introductory lesson (30 minutes for younger children, 45 minutes for older students and adults) with no obligation to continue. The teacher will assess current level, get to know goals, play with you or your child, and outline what regular lessons would look like. If the chemistry is not quite right with the assigned teacher, we will switch you onto another teacher on the team. The most important thing is that lessons feel productive and enjoyable from week one.

Frequently asked questions

Where do lessons take place?

Either at our HA2 studio (a short journey from Rayners Lane), in your home across HA5, or fully online via video. Many Rayners Lane families mix the three depending on the week.

Do you teach my child at the same time as me?

We can. Some families book back-to-back slots so a parent and child take their lessons in the same hour. Some prefer separate days. Either is fine and we will accommodate whatever works for your schedule.

Do I need a piano at home for online lessons?

Yes. A reasonable digital piano with weighted keys (88 keys ideally) is sufficient, plus a tablet or laptop with a decent camera angle showing the hands. The technical setup is simple and we will talk you through it before the first online lesson.

What is your cancellation policy?

Lessons cancelled with 24+ hours notice can be rescheduled within the same term at no charge. Lessons cancelled with less notice are charged in full. The full policy is on our cancellation policy page.
